This qualification could be described as ‘the community entry standard in ICT literacy’ and may be wholly or partially used as an entry level qualification for any of Envirotech’s courses as it includes basic computer skills necessary for all trades and occupations.
The Certificate I in IT provides students with the basic knowledge and abilities required to use a personal computer and attached devices, and to engage in online activities and produce business documents through computer tools used at the business.
This qualification is designed to meet the needs of students who have not often used a computer for work and study purposes and possess only basic computer skills.
This course will provide you an introduction and/or grounding in basic computer skills required in today’s business environment and will assist you in gaining better study skills and employment.
This program is a full-time course completed over a period of 11 academic weeks plus 3 weeks holiday depends on your intake date.
Each academic week comprises of 20 hours of study.
Each academic week comprise of two face to face full days and five hours home project.
Our Certificate I in IT comprises of a total of 6 units, including 4 core units and 2 elective ones.

Envirotech Institute of Education reserves the right to amend course structure and subject content to meet changing industry demands.
English language requirements:
Students must be competent and have sound literacy and numeracy skills in order to fulfil course requirements.
If you have special literacy needs or you feel that your English level may impair your ability to study at Envirotech, please discuss this with us for assistance and guidance.
The minimum English level required is that equivalent to 5.5 IELTS.
Envirotech has an internal English placement test which assess the students LLN abilities and skills prior to commencing the course.
Your Own Laptop
All students must have and bring with them to class their own laptop computer.
Envirotech has a business relationship and arrangement with Clive Anthony shop enabling Envirotech students to purchase computer hardware and software at low prices
Microsoft Office 2007 or above
All Business and IT students must have Microsoft Office 2007 or above installed on their laptops. Envirotech students are offered to purchase of Microsoft Office 2010 Professional for $150 including installation which will take place at the course induction.
At Envirotech our flexible delivery modes are designed to optimise your precious time.
- Classroom – Classes are set with calendar over 15 hours contact per week and 5 hours flexible delivery. International students MUST enrol in a face to face class delivery mode.The two face to face days consist of one delivery and one assessment day. the students may choose to complete the 5 hours flexible component either from campus or outside the campus.
- Workplace or School – Trainer delivers on site with client
- Blended Learning – Periodic Workshops and Distance Learning
- Online– available through Envirotech’s online system
- RPL – Recognised Prior Learning
Credit Transfer and RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning)
Credit may be given either through recognition of previous relevant study or through application of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). If you have valid experience in the proposed qualification and you wish for it to be recognised or credited, please discuss this prior to or during enrolment, as any recognition will affect your course duration.
